What I liked
I am not a fan of verse BUT Charlie made it enjoyable and fun (as it should be as opposed to ‘clever and arrogant’ and more importantly DIDN’T pull me out of the play. His journey from…well see it for yourself, I’m not going to give it away…was perfectly paced. I wanted to reach out and hug him.
What I didn't like
I know it’s a cop-out but it ALL worked. Even what didn’t work worked because it wasn’t supposed to work which is what made it all work. Bravo.
My overall impression
What an absolute joy. Charlie (or should I say Nick Bottom) had me captivated from the first “What?” from offstage. An intriguing reality check for all of us. We’re all a little bottom, after all. And yes, it was hilarious. And honest.
