Batter Up! My Brain on Baseball

martin rodriguez · June 15, 2019 certified reviewer
Woah. This is by far one of my favorite fringe shows ever. Even though this show is about baseball and someone's love for the sport, the show does not exclude anyone from itself. If you love sports, if you don't, if you love baseball, like it even just a bit, or if you don't- this show will leave you entertained. This show has set the bar very high for one person shows. I was entertained from start to finish (and honestly could've sat through a couple more hours of it!). ... full review

This was such a great time! A story with modern and relevant quips that make this a show enjoyable for all audiences- especially LA peeps. This concept was one of the most interesting of the fringe shows this year and the production did not disappoint. Entertaining, fun/funny, and overall enjoyable experience. ... full review

The Journey of The Little Prince

This show and its message are important. A reminder of why we are all artists in the first place, you know? I think those who are not artists forget the things that this story remind us are important- which is why I am so glad that this production is being done during Fringe. The writing, design, acting, and overall storytelling were great. This show is a must see. Thank you all for sharing this story. ... full review

Tattered Capes

There is something very special about a show when you know and can tell that someone has poured their heart and soul into it. This show was one of those experiences. This show had comedy, spectacle, ass-kicking, but most importantly heart. Whether you are a fan of superheroes or not (but why wouldn't you be?), do yourself a favor and see Tattered Capes. You won't regret it. ... full review

Sex and the Musical

Laura never ceases to amaze me. Another great parody musical that kept me entertained throughout the whole show! Parodies can be hit or miss and musical parodies add another layer of difficulty, but F.L.O.P. continues to be successful in both areas and flaw-less! ... full review

Yellow Wallpaper

Denise did a great job of adapting this short story into a full play. We get to see more of Jane's progression, which is well written and fantastically done by Tatum. Plays that make you think are always great, in my book. I had many thoughts during this play about the many themes throughout this story (mental health, women's rights. etc.). An overall enjoyable show with very important thematic material. Go see this show! ... full review

Met Again

Wow. This show was so touching and moving. It was a beautiful love story that came full circle. I appreciated how the story strayed away from stereotypical love stories and had real-life scenarios in them. It made it feel more true, if that makes sense. I laughed, I cried, and I told those I love just how much love them after leaving the theatre that day. Thank you for sharing this story. Met Again is a MUST SEE. ... full review

I Died Today

Wow. I wish I could've seen ALL FOUR versions of this show. Greg's concept for "I Died Today" is one that I have yet to hear of. I LOVE it! The same story told from four different people creates an experience like no other at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. That is just his concept. The script itself is very enjoyable and thought-provoking. The story is like a roller coaster of feelings and thoughts that lead to many moments where I audibly said "hmmm..." and after the show, I couldn't help but re... full review

LAST CHRISTMAS

I called my mom and dad after I left this show. This was such a fun and engaging story with a beautiful message that was all delivered very well. Speaking of engaging, Evan did a fantastic job creating the different characters and giving them unique voices and personalities. He really brought this story to life. This well-written script, along with its great direction and acting, gives for a very special theatrical experience. I left with a warm heart and a thankful life. Go see this show!... full review
