Nyx: The Girl Born to Chaos

david beatty · June 15, 2025 certified reviewer
NYX is a gritty, intense, character study that dives deep into the psyche of the main character. Charlotte Kaseta delivers a mesmerizing performance that is both heartbreaking and disturbing. Steph Martinez profoundly plays an incredibly complicated role that is beautiful and equally damaged at the same time. Ross Gosla gives a stand out performance with a terrifying presence, adding to the plays heavy, unsettling tone. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the wonderful direction of Fr... full review

Venus in Fur

Every moment of Venus in Fur is electric! It is a smart, witty and, at times, hilarious journey into sexual desire and serious games of submission and domination... in all its mouthwatering manifestations! Rachael Meyers and Bryan McKinley are sensational! Together, they have us all questioning how far these characters will go to get what they want. We know from the start these are incredibly experienced artists who masterfully tell the story while deliciously enjoying every twist and turn a... full review

How Can I Keep From Singing?

Camirin Farmer's brilliant show is a reminder of the importance of healing through sound, silence, music, meditation, calmness and community. From the moment I arrived, the energy of the room slowed my pulse. I felt I could breath. Less stress and more living in the moment. I felt like I was being invited into Camirin's living room and asked to let my worries go and embrace the love around me. :-) ... full review

Meat Bar is an inspiring, creative artist with inexhaustible talent up their sleeve. In Sugar Mud, we see fully imagined characters, who are lively, compassionate, quick-witted and smart. With a brilliant, yet simple set-design, we are transported to the dust bowl where characters crawl out from under dusty rocks to guide us through stories that unfold, in the moment. Not knowing what will come next, we feel safe in the hands of our guide, who cleverly includes the audience in every step of the j... full review

I love this show! Not only a beautiful, mesmerizing performance by Laural Meade, this show is very funny and a loving tribute to vaudeville legend Sophie Tucker. Fred Cassidy, on piano, plays opposite Laural with musical charm and witty repartee. Laural has a natural, masterful, ability to work the audience and include us in the show, giving us a shared, electrifying live theater experience. ... full review
