Julianne: Live from LA!

I won tickets to this at Fringe Cabaret, and I was thoroughly impressed--this show didn't interest me originally, but it was hysterical, and I'm glad I didn't miss it--it was hilarious and lots of fun!... full review

The Four Horsemen of the Funkpocalypse

The show has a lot of clever puns, and the music was pretty funky, but the whole time, I felt like this show was catered toward a specific demographic because of all the "Magic Mike" elements this show had, like a '70s version of "Magic Mike," but with everyone leaving their clothes on. It was funky and fresh, especially the music, but not catered toward my demographic. However, the demographic it was catered toward were TOTALLY INTO IT. If this is your thing, you'll love it.... full review

The Human Test Subjects

This show was HILARIOUS. The performers are really good at doing what they do, especially when they get good suggestions from the audience (and even not-so-good ones!), and the meaning behind their forming of a troupe is inspiring as well. Try and catch this show if you can--it's one of the funniest improv groups I've seen. The transitions were sometimes a bit awkward and not quite so smooth, which detracted from the pace ever-so-slightly, but they more than made up for it during their games--... full review

Mind2Mind

The show itself is fun, but there were only about 3 or 4 total mind reading tricks in the full hour. The main mind reader was funny and an adorable senior citizen, but because of his age, the pacing was a bit slow (which he did joke about!), which sometimes made the ultimate mindreading a bit less tight and therefore not as impressive as it could have been at a much faster pace. That being said, it's a fun show, and if you're interested in ESP, laughing, have some extra cash, and have an openin... full review

The Gentrification Cycle

The show is good. It's funny, engaging, but also very dry. There's underlying theatre references (Chekov style, etc.) that are really cool to look out for, and the cast seemed to be having a great time. Btw, the show ran about 45 minutes, so there's plenty of time to catch this show AND another one right after--don't let the run time turn you away. It's a cool show!... full review

My Big Fat Blonde Musical

I'd call it "The Big Fat Fun Musical," because that's exactly what it is--big, fat, and fun. Stroll never misses a beat, quite literally, from her dancing shoes to her mature voice--and singing as so many different characters was clever and loads of awesome!... full review

It's cool if you're drinking and hanging out at Fringe Central, but don't go out of your way to catch it.... full review

MAD😜LIB! The Musical

There was a lot of hype surrounding this show from a lot of people I talked to who highly recommended it, and while I enjoyed it, it didn't quite meet my expectations. Is it worth checking out at least once? Yes, it's free and if you can stay up late after Fringe-ing all day. If it's on your list, check it out. The guest stars blew me away as did Mitchell in the main cast, and I thought the rest of the main cast was good, too, but the standouts for me were the guest stars and Mitchell.... full review

The Truth

spencer frankeberger · June 12, 2016 uncertified reviewer
Despite a few muddled/confusing elements of the plot, the performers were very engaging and made the hour long show feel like nothing at all. It was funny, heartfelt, intriguing, and something special. An immersive experience like nothing else at the Fringe, it's worth a look if you've got the cash.... full review

Johanna Super Happy Bedtime Revue: A Traumedy

spencer frankeberger · June 12, 2016 certified reviewer
I went to go see this show since I had an hour in between shows and it was on the schedule, but I am thrilled that I made that decision instead of just walking around Fringe for an hour. This show was great! The performer (Johanna) tells a hilarious story, with moments of sincerity and depth, including some powerful metaphors through dance, and it, along with some other shows I've seen, have helped me appreciate one-person shows. The ticket price is reasonable, the show is about 40 minutes lon... full review
