Shitty Awful Everything

Shitty Awful Everything is a totally trippy play that embraces meta conventions, intertexuality and postmodern absurdism.... full review

Punch and Judy

These people are damn talented. A highly theatrical show with tasteful, hilarious violence and wonderfully choreographed fight sequences. The actors just nail the physicality of being a live puppet. There is a moment in the show (no spoilers) that just fills the entire space and we are reminded of the magic of theatre. A drummer, with sound effects on the ready, lives in the front of house with the audience as he provides the rim shot to punchlines, cow bells gunshots and the beating of a basebal... full review

Mark Twain Answers All Your Questions!

benjamin schwartz · June 05, 2016 certified reviewer
Coming off of last year's fringe hit, The Poe Show, my expectations were pretty high for Mark Twain. Thankfully, and with no surprise, Ed Goodman (Mark Twain) delivers. Wildly informal and equal parts hilarious. Mr. Twain explains to us all the "rules" of a one-person show (Tell the truth, wallow in it, only one-person, etc.) and how is he is legally bound to comply with each of them throughout the performance. He uses these rules as a springboard for many great bits and jokes. There are a... full review

Hippopotamoidea!!!

Holy crap. A short play that seemed as though Rod Serling decided to take acid and trip balls. I've been thinking for days about the images, concept and sequence of events that I cannot possibly describe. A play by play of this plot would do it not justice. I kind of fell in love with the homemade DIY props, set and furniture. Everything had this comic book-esque aesthetic that sort of looked like a cross between Disneyland & Timothy Leary drawn by an eight year old. Very cool. Looking forward to... full review

I Died...I Came Back...Whatever.

Well damn, Cyanne is one talented little lady. Her first (and definitely not the last, I hope) solo show at this year's fringe proved to be extremely worthy and dealt with heavy subject matter.. She truly showed off her abilities and range gracefully slipping in and out between each character and story. Geezus, it was amazing to see her flip between a 5 year old the back to herself and snap right into Sir Laurence within seconds of each other. This show was EXTREMELY well rehearsed and directed. ... full review

Sleeping Around

This show has a lot more depth than the title, Sleeping Around, suggests. Instead of focusing on glib and sex, the play tackled some very real relationship problems and gray issues. The cast did a great job with this script, with each character clearly defined and different from one another. The entire audience was laughing at every comedic moment and touched by the dramatic ones. A very worthy production that is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining.... full review

Shakespeare's Last Night Out (or What? YOU, Will??)

benjamin schwartz · June 26, 2015 uncertified reviewer
This show is really something special. I was drawn into the world from the second I walked into the theatre with the light folk music being played by the live band. A solid piece of writing, and brilliantly executed by Michael Shaw Fisher, who is utterly magnetic onstage. Clever lyrics and complex, yet catchy melodies make this show a joyous experience. You don't have to be a Shakespeare lover or expert to get this show, but it does help. Very glad that I had the opportunity to see this. I haven'... full review

King Dick

KING DICK is an extraordinary piece of theatre. I'd put this show up against any show I've seen in town, and I see a lot of theatre outside the fringe. Totally engaging and hilarious throughout the entire performance with a rockstar ensemble cast. The expertly crafted dialogue, and insanely superb acting by Christian Levatino marks this play as not only my favorite fringe experience, but my favorite show I've seen in years. I would go over and over again if I could. I want the DVD. For artists, w... full review

Four Clowns presents The Halfwits' Last Hurrah

benjamin schwartz · June 21, 2015 certified reviewer
I expected nothing less than a fantastic show from this wonderfully talented clowning troupe and they delivered it. Adorned with slapstick, one liners, and physical comedy, this vaudeville-esque, melodramatic romp had me laughing and clapping the entire time. Drink before you go. This show benefits from a loose crowd and there's some fun audience interaction. Go early not only to catch a good seat, but to watch the pre-show and get settled in. The performers look like they are having as much fun ... full review
