Full disclosure, I'm always gonna go see what Mr. Hunt does. It's always gonna have surprises, some real pathos, and some danger. And funny. You know there's gonna be some great funny. Brendan Hunt knows how to connect material, character, and audience and he does it here. I saw the preview so there may be adjustments from the show I saw. I'll see it again later in the run just because I know that, free from the restrictions of a big ensemble show, Brendan will find even more to bring. That's ano...

They're on all the lists.
All the reviews are raves.
They won an extension.
This is simply one of the stand out shows this year. It's clever and funny and fun and executed with such precision and glee. The Norton School knows what they're doing and it's great to watch.
TOP THREE. Easily. ...

I haven't read all the other reviews so forgive me if I'm covering the same old ground. Funny, expertly executed, right on. A great show. But what really struck me is how the clowns aren't afraid to take the audience to some pretty dark places. It's not just an hour of gags and pratfalls. There's plenty of substance going on as well. So, bravo clowns, not just for delivering the brilliant, funny show I expected, but for delivering the thoughtful, even challenging show I did not....

Zip Ties

Benjamin Schwartz's Zip Ties is ambitious. One scene, six actors, working a high intensity crime piece in the spirit of Reservoir Dogs. That's not an easy thing to pull off. His piece is brutal and mean, men at their worst, and has some genuinely cringe-worthy moments. All the elements are there: The wit, the crazy, the everything-goes-wrong. And the cast is great. Everyone is up to speed, steaming through the material with passion and skill, at times it's like watching a verbal street fight. Bel...

STUPID SONGS!!

Stupid Songs is as fun and funny as the reviews here state. But also know this show is a professional operation. It moves without a hitch, a steady, satisfying stream of funny songs that range in style and content. Just a solid, funny show.
But on thing that struck me is how much right-on commentary is sprinkled throughout the show. How women "win" by selling themselves out, society's crushing expectations and how they can be more deadly than just low self esteem, the way these issues are hand...

Shakespeare's Last Night Out (or What? YOU, Will??)

Michael Shaw Fisher is a thug. He'll knock you down and take your money. His portrayal of William Shakespeare (if you're not sure who that is you can read about him here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Shakespeare) is fantastic. There's no need to go into what happens during the show. Singing, speechin', jokes, it's everything you could want from a one man musical show about William Shakespeare. And this from a guy who usually does full-blown musicals with a full cast and a six piece band. W...

Alright, here's what I'm talking about. The premise of the show is it's the 7th Annual One-Man Show World Championship. And that's exactly what we get. And these guys beat the hell out of it. So funny and well delivered. They understand that parody does not mean "do poorly." They take it seriously and not only deliver their point, but deliver fantastic solo performances in the process.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...

WHY isn't this page exploding with reviews? Hamlet-Mobile is about as Fringe as you can get. Stop reading this review and go get in the van.
GET IN THE VAN.
Hamlet in eight parts (I've only seen three so this is what I know so far). Some is on the street, some is in the van. I won't get into the content because at this point I don't know what would constitute a spoiler.
A slice of ham left in the glove compartment. That would constitute a spoiler.
Anyway, the idea of Hamlet-Mobile sho...
