This show was an expert-level piece comedy that made it easy to think that the show had already had a successful Off-Broadway run. The writing was so well-done I assumed it was a published work that the performer had bought the rights to. What a special moment to learn that this show was written by the performer. This was the brilliant, weird step-child of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged" and "The Play that Goes Wrong" with a spicy side of all things DEATH. It was cleverly written, passionately played, and just a pure romp through controlled chaos that had us giggling from start to finish. I saw the show on a whim at the Hobgoblin Theatre, and let me tell you, I stumbled upon a little 45 minute nugget of gold. A classic romcom farce, this play was peppered with well written jokes and had performers to deliver them with expertise. What an amalgamation of pure talent! I was so impressed with the level of professionality this show exhibited. From the brilliant sound design, to the set and costumes, to the acting -- every level of this show was worth the wait! An amazing showcase of art imitating life, as we see how current events affect the lives of Americans and immigrants alike. Laugh-out-loud funny at times, with moments that tug at your heartstrings for how close to home it feels. A tear-jerker for sure, but I never felt so supported and seen.
