PARIS + JULIET

What begins as a farcical take on a side character from Romeo & Juliet becomes an earnest examination of identity, self-love, and the role we play both in our own lives and in the lives of others. Charlie Day balances broad comedy and touching sincerity with grace and skill. And you do NOT need to be a Shakespeare nerd to enjoy this show!... full review

NAPOLEON'S WH*RE SISTER

nicole knudsen · June 10, 2025 certified reviewer
The title alone piqued my interest in this show, and I was not disappointed. Napoleon’s Wh*re Sister is a timely commentary on the too-long history of men’s supposed claim to women’s bodies, all while masquerading as a light-hearted romp. To be clear: the show IS light-hearted. It’s a party, after all! But when the narrative eventually dips into more serious territory, it doesn’t shy away from it.... full review

no better man

Jacob Sidney takes you on a tour through Seattle’s history that's as clever as it is thought-provoking. No Better Man feels like a response to the lessons taught en masse in our education system. Lessons that, even when not explicitly a white-washed account, lack the nuance and complexity of all the people and cultures at play in our history.... full review

And Her Children

nicole knudsen · June 08, 2025 certified reviewer
And Her Children walks an impressive tightrope. It is a searing critique of the American gun industry, yet never loses sight of the humanity of those who serve it. Judge this contemporary reimagining of Anna Fierling all you want. She certainly deserves it. And yet the play also demands that you empathize with her, too. That is the power and complexity at the heart of And Her Children.... full review

OBSESSED

nicole knudsen · June 27, 2024 certified reviewer
What most impressed me about OBSESSED was the production's ability to immerse me, the audience member, into the fraught and often-spiraling mindset of its lead character, Eloise. Everything from the monologues to the staging to the dreamlike sequences helped translate an internal experience into something alive and tangible on stage.... full review

638: An Uncommonly Comical Review Of An Accidental Assassination Attempt of Fidel Castro

638 successfully walks a thematic tightrope, balancing the mostly-farcical tone of the piece with the grim reality of life lived under a dictatorship.... full review

ICE CATS: A Dead Mother Traumedy

nicole knudsen · June 27, 2024 certified reviewer
Who knew that grief could be so funny? Alli Miller-Fisher, for one. ICE CATS beautifully grapples with the messy muddle of emotions that follows a loved-one's passing: the pain of the loss, the bittersweet remembrance of better times, the humor at the absurdity of it all. And, as advertised: ice cats. Oh boy, are there ice cats.... full review
