Scarlett Fever

An exquisite melding of drama, dance, movement, costume and live music, this performance piece takes David O. Selznick's search for the right actress to play Scarlett O'Hara into moments I don't think the legendary producer could ever have thought of. A seamless cast under Kick Boom Theater leader John Wuchte's inventive direction certainly help, but this show really is Wuchte's awe-inspiring conception. It's been years since I've seen a costume change catapult a production into the next level-... full review

I laughed so hard I pulled a muscle in my back. I couldn’t get out of my seat. Ryan Gowland, Peter Fluet, Rebecca Larsen and the rest of this excellent cast create a comedy honors class.... full review

Wigfield

Paced to the rhythm of Stephen Colbert(?)’s ironic voice, this play immediately pulls you into its wiggy town and wayward citizens, three of whom claim to be the mayor. An astonishing cast delivers Pamela Quinn Eberhardt’s tight script with everything required from stupidity to slovenliness to ennui. Bad things happen ... in the most hilarious way possible. A 15 year quest by Eberhardt to wrestle onto the boards, this adaptation of the Stephen Colbert-Amy Sedaris-Paul Dinello novel deserves a ... full review

Come Back!

I’ve watched Edie and Petey Stevenson sing their way through steamy scenes since they first appeared in a shorts show at the old Elephant Theatre over a decade ago. One of the reasons they’ve come back in so many forums is the humor, empathy and ingenuity of playwright Tony Foster. Amir Levi and Demetris Hartman launch Edie and Petey into comedy's stratosphere. Levi's legs are hurricanes of movement and emotion, and Hartman paints a color filled portrait of a young man who comes to realize his... full review

Olivia Wilde Does Not Survive the Apocalypse

Like RIDDLEY WALKER and MR. BURNS, OLIVIA WILDE DOES NOT SURVIVE THE APOCALYPSE concerns the production of a popular work of our era in a post-apocalyptic future. But I don't think anyone has done it as comically as playwright Matthew Robinson and the cast and crew of this show. Sean-Michael Bowles and Emilie Martz play a director and an actor unfrozen into futuristic police state where their lives depend on their production of Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. Director Robby Devi... full review

This show is so well written, acted, designed and directed that I hope for a future monologue show from Ruth Fowler and company. One that features additional characters but challenges an audience just as hard.... full review

Dracula's Taste Test

Marz Richard's Dracula proves a generous host, inviting many classic Hollywood monsters into his cabaret and finding a few new ones, too. Most are portrayed by actors from the Sacred Fools Theatre Co. and all are given the space to bite, claw and slash their finely sharpened musical comedy skills until you die laughing.... full review
