THE PLEASURE PROJECT

Ava Bogle portrays 5 different aliens posing as 5 different humans... each one believing there is real value in human sexuality, especially the amazing clitoris, and we should be saved from the upcoming nuclear destruction. Each characters is distinct and more outrageous than the last. A really well done solo show! ... full review

HELLO AGAIN! THE SONGS OF ALLAN SHERMAN

I really enjoyed "Hello Again: The Songs of Allan Sherman" at the Stephanie Feury Studio Theatre. For those not around in the 60's, he was a brilliant song parody writer and Linden Waddell not only is a great singer but expertly shared the humor to a tee in every single song! And like Linden, you don't need to be Jewish to appreciate all the humor from "We Ain't Got Lox" to "Chopped Liver" to "Harvey and Shirley" to the tune of Hava Negila, get ready to sit back and laugh to the songwriting tale... full review

The Faggot King or The Troublesome Reign of Edward II

From the brilliantly designed medieval costumes by Linda Muggeridge to producer Jen Albert's amazing fight choreography, and especially Heather Schmidt's gender-bending take on Edward II, the play was incredibly entertaining as long as you don't mind all the decapitations! Tiffany Cole cannot disguise her womanly figure, yet pulls off her role as Hugh de Spencer, the great love of the Faggot King. We were entertained from start to finish.... full review

NORMAL

To say we were shocked by the violence in the show is an understatement. Granted, Steve Madar gives an amazing performance as the German serial killer Peter Kurten who vacillates between being a handsome rogue and a monster, and Arthur Keng is totally believable as the bewildered and naive attorney Justus Wehner sent to represent him, and Carolyn Deskin's Frau Kurten was disturbing in her willingness to submit to such a monster.... full review

Orange Mango Cabaret

A thoroughly entertaining show geared for those of us to the left of the political scene, as well as those committed to exposing the fake news rampant today. With a talented cast, many of whom play multiple roles in several short skits addressing how we got into our current political situation with our Mango in Charge, the troupe is led by the fabulous Orange Mango Cabaret host, Friv O'Less (Sierra Taylor) who pulls an orange curtain across the stage to allow for scene changes. Her banter will ... full review

The highlight of Sugi's musical numbers is Roger's final solo "Then They're Gone" which Nathan Ondacek delivers through his heartbreak at falling for his best friend's gal. Being the honorable guy he is, there is a never a question he will ultimately do the right thing. And be sure to chat up Nick Rubando (Jones/Reporter) when you first arrive as he strolls around the audience to create the 1940s world into which you have stepped. Tip your fedora, lift your martini to toast, and get ready fo... full review

Porn Rock: An Unintentional Comedy

Lawrence Meyers’ script really should be shared with school students today to remind them about what it takes to protect their basic rights and how Americans cannot allow the government or any industry to attempt censorship, and how important it is to allow others to state a differing opinion without stooping to violence against them. Be and let be. Why is this always so impossible? PORN ROCK is for everyone who believes in free speech, for the rights of artists and citizens everywhere to sp... full review

Anyone who has attempted to navigate online dating will appreciate this look at how intertwined all of our lives have become. Each scene in this one act concerns a couple, with one member of each couple proceeding into the next scene with a different partner. No situation is exactly the same and yet each seems so familiar. From a casual hook-up with no names exchanged, we go on to meet that man's wife who is suffering from cancer and has encouraged him to go out and find his next lover so he w... full review

The Load-In

Certainly most of us have wanted to follow a band around and be a part of their backstage antics when we were young enough to have the energy to do so. So it is quite a thrill to be in on the action of watching The Wax Robots load-in for a performance when everything that can go wrong does, yet it all works out in the end. You'll hear stories about their lives and how they got to be in this place at this time as their equipment and sound system miraculous gets set in place. The keyboardist has ... full review
