Psychologist and Bharatanatyam Artist Maps Cultural Dislocation onto the Nervous System in Hollywood Fringe Premiere SPLIT: Between Two Nervous Systems
Solo dance-theatre work fuses 30 years of classical Indian dance with trauma theory and somatic movement; premieres at Hudson Theatre MainStage

HOLLYWOOD, CA – What happens to body and mind that crosse an ocean and are asked to belong to two worlds at once? Dimple Kaur answers that question with her own in SPLIT: Between Two Nervous Systems, a solo dance and physical theatre premiere at the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival, produced by Soaring Solo Studios.
Drawing on more than 30 years of Bharatanatyam training and her work in complex trauma, somatic movement and the nervous system, Dimple turns the experience of cultural dislocation into embodied performance. The work moves between the classical vocabulary of Indian dance and the raw language of the regulated and dysregulated body, asking how migration, identity, and belonging are written t into memory and into physiology. Its animating line: my address changed my nervous system.
Kaur brings rare authority to the material. She holds a PhD in psychology and is completing a doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD), and is a Registered Somatic Movement Educator, alongside her Master’s training in Bharatanatyam. SPLIT is the convergence of those disciplines on a single stage.
SPLIT: Between Two Nervous Systems runs at the Hudson Theatre MainStage, 6539 Santa Monica Boulevard, Hollywood, with a preview on Tuesday, June 9 at 6:30 PM, and performances on Sunday, June 14 at 6:15 PM and Saturday, June 20 at 4:30 PM. Tickets are available at dimplekaur.com.
