BIG MAESTRO & LITTLE CELLO BOY TO HAVE WORLD PREMIERE AT BROADWATER
Big Maestro & Little Cello Boy
Are you hungry… for greatness? Would you give up everything to become truly great?
This is the question at the heart of Big Maestro & Little Cello Boy, a dark slapstick exploration of shame, ambition, & horsehair from Alex Derderian (Holy Holy) & Peter Levine (Internet Style). Watch in horrified amusement as a prestigious public master class devolves into a twisted ritual of public humiliation and embarrassment. Under the tutelage of the brilliant (if unhinged) maestro Caucus (Derderian), a dedicated classical cellist (Levine) is stripped down to his bare essentials through a series of increasingly bizarre and merciless tests of devotion to his art. With the grotesque absurdity of a fever dream apparition, the maestro forces both cellist and audience to ask whether a life consumed by artistic ambition is truly a life worth living.
In a World Premiere directed by renowned physical theater artist and clown Dean Evans (Honeybuns), Caucus and Peter will be conducting 5 masterclasses at the Broadwater Second Stage as a part of the 2026 Hollywood Fringe.
