Bellingham Bay

view project

Award-winning actor, writer & comedian, Katherine Bourne Taylor, is bringing her solo comedy, Bellingham Bay, to the Hollywood Fringe this June.

Immerse yourself in a multi-season 90s TV Show Katherine made up in her head.
Yearning! Town Secrets! Nostalgia!

BELLINGHAM BAY, 1992. Father Peter, a young priest, arrives in the close-knit Pacific Northwest town and quickly clashes with Stella, the local pub owner with the voice of an angel… and a secret.

BELLINGHAM BAY is for you IF…
● You believe in LOVE!
● You yearn to be COMFORTED in these trying times!
● You think Teen WB TV, cozy BBC shows and The Goo Goo Dolls are actually kind of charming!
● You’re a DREAMER who believes we might all be ok if we just had a friendly bar to meet at every night in this coastal, one-pub town!

Written and performed by Bourne Taylor and directed by Ben Blacker (Thrilling Adventure Hour, Dead Pilot’s Society), Bellingham Bay is like a Wikipedia deep-dive into an iconic 90s TV show, set to a late-night Delilah radio show soundtrack. It’s a piece of comedic theater and a serious series pitch all in one. Bellingham Bay was developed at The Elysian Theater (where it recently showed in April), Nico’s in
Atwater Village, and Obsessed: A Comedy Show about Your Hyper-Fixations.

Creator Katherine Bourne Taylor says, “The origins of this “Bellingham Bay” trace back to a maladaptive daydream I’ve been building in my head since I was eleven, when the world felt chaotic (sound familiar?), before I knew I had OCD, and I needed somewhere fun and safe to escape to. Bringing this thing into the real world has reminded me of the power in our daydreams, and reinforced my belief that everyone is entitled to the safe places they carve out for themselves. And God, I’m obsessed with a small-town love story.”
