Linnea V Praml is in uncharted territory in memory of her late husband, Joe Praml, playwright, stage director, former London-based stage actor.
After Joe Praml died in 2020, she went back to college at Los Angeles Valley College to learn how to direct, after a career as corporate paralegal. She co-produced The Trick with LAVC in 2024 and 2025. This is her first production at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

THE TRICK: Premiered at London’s Orange Tree Theatre. Two businessmen, Furst and Pin, meet a couple of call girls, Yvette and Babbette, in a rundown saloon. Meanwhile, a man on the ledge of a building across the street threatens suicide, revealing and changing their lives. THE PEARL: A comedy premiered in the US. Dick, Jane and Sally appear outside Grandma’s house during her death throes, complaining at the likelihood of no inheritance. They call in a doctor who operates and finds something astounding that changes their view of Grandma, and changes Grandma. The cast includes Jason Jawaszak, Chaunice Hendking, Mare Mossholder; Juan Sanchez Sarabia, Arthur Dayants as Grandma
Joe Praml (1935-2020), the playwright. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, he was a Shubert Fellow in Playwriting in its Graduate School of Theatre. He was a recipient of the McKnight Foundation Humanities Award, and a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. His other plays include Jason, The Moneyman, Mayfly Night, Poldrock, and an adaptation of Anatol. He wrote, acted, and directed for stage, television, and film in London and the US.
Alexandria Sanders directs The Trick. Born in Southern California. At age 14, began acting in community theatre. Attended Los Angeles Film School. Twelve years as Script Supervisor; worked for Nickelodeon. As actress: nominated Best Supporting Actress, Black Diversity Film Festival for Johnny, Johnny. At Theatre West: performed in series of one-acts; producer and assistant director.
