FINALLY! A CURE FOR EMOTIONALLY REPRESSED STRAIGHT MEN!
Emotional Alpha
THE SHOW
Emotional Alpha is a solo show with one tiiiiny, super-accomplishable goal – to fix all straight men, forever. The character is best described as “if Brené Brown was a member of Seal Team 6”. A hypermasculine, yet hyperempathetic, therapist who is determined to use what straight men love (lifting, bravado, Celsius) to teach them what they need (empathy, emotional regulation, vulnerability).
MESSAGE BEHIND THE COMEDY:
This show is all about the laughs but my hope is maaaybe it also helps some people. The “Manosphere” is pervasive, toxic, and dangerous – it’s also a natural consequence of not teaching boys/men how to relate to themselves and others. But it’s not too late. This “boot camp” satirizes the extreme energy of the Manosphere to teach straight men the interpersonal skills society never required them to learn.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Andrew Knox is an actor, writer, and improviser who grew up in rural Vermont where the closest restaurant was a converted barn and the closest neighbor lived in a bus. He went to college to play football but, like so many linebackers, quit to do improv and acapella. Before moving to LA he wrote and performed in 4 original revues on The Second City’s Mainstage and ETC Stage in Chicago. More recently Andrew was named a New Face of comedy at the Just For Laughs comedy festival. He currently performs at UCB in Los Angeles. He’s also toured with The Second City’s National Touring Company and the highly acclaimed Improvised Shakespeare Company. Other favorite productions include “The Second City’s Almost Accurate Guide to America” at The Kennedy Center and the fully-improvised Off-Broadway musical “Blank! The Musical!” at New World Stages.
He’s been seen on St Denis Medical, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, FOX NFL Sunday, as well as many national commercials.
