THE SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED
(DUE TO THE END OF THE WORLD)
(U.S. PREMIERE)
Written, Directed and Performed by Danilo Napoli
Assistant Director: Antonietta Barcellona
Los Angeles, CA. (May 8, 2026).
The show has been cancelled. The world has ended.
But one actor still shows up.
In a near future devastated by climate collapse, an actor steps on stage to announce that the performance is cancelled… and slowly begins to tell his story. Cities submerged, people divided between those who live underwater (the fucking rich people) and those left on the surface (us, the poor), a theatre company falling apart one death at a time and a Christian radio which doesn’t stop to tell useless prayers.
The Show Has Been Cancelled (Due To the End of the World) is a darkly comic and deeply human solo performance about art, survival, and resistance in a dying world. With only words, imagination and a single performer, the audience is taken on a journey that is at once intimate, absurd, tragic and unsettlingly familiar, with a love letter to theatre at the end of everything. Because, so long as there’s someone willing to listen, all is not really lost
