ShotzLA: An Exquisite Corpse

A Surrealist theatrical experiment from four playwrights, two directors, and one gloriously unpredictable chain reaction

Hollywood Fringe Festival — SHOTZLA, known for its fast-paced and inventive Shotz productions, brings a bold new theatrical collaboration to this year’s festival with ShotzLA: An Exquisite Corpse, an original live performance inspired by the classic Surrealist creation game.

Written by Amy Kersten, Rachel Harner, Alexandria Walters, and Rachel Imbriglio

Directed by Christian Haines and Melissa Alce

Dramaturged by Davi Armanino

The original Surrealist game invited participants to collectively create drawings or texts without fully seeing what came before — often resulting in bizarre, hilarious, and unexpectedly profound creations. SHOTZLA has adapted that concept for the stage by challenging four playwrights to respond to three shared themes and continue each other’s work while only reading the final page or two of the previous script.

The result is a theatrical patchwork of mystery, momentum, and creative chaos. The production embraces spontaneity, experimentation, and the strange magic of collaborative storytelling.

Cast featuring performances by Christian Haines (Law & Order), Sascha Vanderslik (Dead Hot American Summer), Melissa Alce (Matlock), Maxon Davis (Love is Dead), Nerida Bronwen (Witch Hat Atelier), Davi Armanino (Sweet Death), Sheridan Pierce (Modern Family), Natasha Galano (St. Denis Medical) & Geri Courtney-Austein (Better Call Saul)
