Jackie, Baby! brings Clown, Ritual, and Old Hollywood Heartbreak to the Hollywood Fringe Festival

LOS ANGELES, CA — Jackie, Baby!, a new one-woman theatrical production written and performed by Cylie Janiece, will premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival this June at the Zephyr Theatre.

Set backstage in 1934 Hollywood as talking pictures begin replacing vaudeville, Jackie, Baby! follows Jackie Beverly, a once-celebrated stage star preparing for a pivotal performance while grappling with ambition, aging, love, and what it means to continue creating in a rapidly changing world.

Blending clown, physical comedy, ritual, and theatrical storytelling, the production invites audiences into the intimate chaos of a performer preparing herself to be seen.

“Jackie, Baby! is a love letter to audiences,” says Janiece. “It’s about performance as survival, communion, and devotion. Even as the entertainment industry changes, there is still something sacred about live theater — about gathering together in a room to laugh, grieve, and witness one another in real time.”

The production incorporates stylized theatrical elements including silhouette work, clown-inspired physical comedy, live quick changes, and moments of direct audience connection. At its core, the piece explores the resilience required to keep creating when the landscape around you shifts.

Janiece, a writer, performer, and clown artist based in Los Angeles, developed the production independently for the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
