the real LADY MACBETH – lifting the curse – is a play that will lift the curse on the real Lady Macbeth, an 11th century Scottish queen, who was nothing like Shakespeare’s evil queen with a masculine lust for power. Her name and her memory have been slandered on stages all over the world, for the past 500 years. It is time to set her free!

the real LADY MACBETH lived in a Druid world filled with warrior blood and terrible vengeance, but also a world filled with magic and medicine women, under the ongoing spell of nature. Life was brutal, and it was precious.

The women of that time, even queens, were invisible. Their stories were unheard. Today, we live in a time when all of the unseen and unheard ones ones are coming to the surface to tell their stories, yet, as war and bloodshed still continue. What has changed?

Using a “Burning Man’”esthetic with modern bohemian costume and effects, and avant-garde props, director, Sofia Streisand, seamlessly blends worlds, and brings a timely message of, dare we say, hope?

Award-winning singer & composer, Kristin Amarie, and co-composer and producer, Alex Salzman’s haunting and ethereal music, features.

the real Lady Macbeth – lifting the curse – is a participant in the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
