PIT OF HOPE: THROUGH THE EYES OF A DOG

Pit of Hope

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The World Premiere of Pit of Hope, written and directed by Vince Tula, will be presented at the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival by producers Robert Keasler and Briana León.

Set in Los Angeles during the summer of 2025, Pit of Hope is a story of survival through the eyes of a pit bull who is thrown into the LA Animal Shelter system after his family is taken by ICE. Two actors embody pit bulls to reveal something deeply human: what it means to hold onto hope when all is lost.

“Last summer, a black pit bull named Nueve was surrendered by his migrant owner out of fear of deportation. There’s a play in that. I wanted actors to play the dogs because it’s heartfelt and hilarious.” says Vince Tula.

“Pit of Hope is a direct reflection of what’s happening to my people, your neighbors, and the ripple effects of immigration enforcement and animal shelter overcrowding.” says Ulysses Montoya*, who plays Nueve.

Pit of Hope runs for ninety minutes and features an ensemble cast of five actors: K Cody Hunt, Mike Mihm*, Ulysses Montoya*, Christian Wienker and Rachel Zapata. There will be five performances at The Broadwater Second Stage, 6320 Santa Monica Blvd. Tickets are available for purchase through the Hollywood Fringe website.
