LOCAL PLAYWRIGHT HEADS TO HOLLYWOOD

Sacramento, Calif. – With over ten years of experience in acting and theatre, Sacramento-native Gaelika Brown, takes her self-written and directed play “Sex Talk” to this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival beginning June 7,2012.

After graduating from Sheldon High School in the Elk Grove Unified School District, Gaelika wrote “Sex Talk” while receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Texas Southern University in 2005. The play debuted at the Silver House Theatre in Houston, earning her The Observer newspaper’s “30 Under 30” award for her playwriting, directing and acting.

“Sex Talk” is a humorous, yet dramatic piece of theatre about three women and their sexual journey to self-discovery. The actresses in the production deliver monologues on a variety of topics from romance, to relationships, to sex and STD’s, bringing a strong, direct, and relatable piece of art to all. The women in the play remain nameless and seemingly unconnected, but their tales weave together into a comedic and emotional narrative.

The three-woman cast brings together the talents and experience of LaFonda Baker, a native of the Sacramento and Stockton areas, as well as a student of the Actor Training Program at San Joaquin Delta College, Jade, a New York actress familiar to television and theatre with a history of working with well known artists such as T-Pain and Solange Knowles, and Gaelika Brown, the writer and director of the play.

“Sex Talk” performances at The Hollywood Fringe Festival will take place June 7th at 7pm, June 15-17 at 8:30pm at Theatre 6470 inside the Complex Theatre, located at 6476 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90038.
