Cherita Armstrong is proud to present INCIDENTS IN THE LIFE OF A SLAVE GIRL as part of the 8th annual Hollywood Fringe Festival. Performed by Cherita Armstrong. Adapted and Directed by Wynn Handman.

This one woman show brings Harriet Jacobs’ 1861 autobiography to life, which includes the arduous 7 years she spent hiding out as a fugitive in her grandmother’s attic. Her narrative reveals in shocking fashion the traumas of slavery, particularly for women and children. The audience will be moved by Harriet’s Jacob’s powerful story of resistance, hope and freedom.

Cherita Armstrong is an actor, writer and producer. Television credits include Pretty Little Liars (recurring), Law & Order: SVU, All My Children, and Law & Order: Trial by Jury. Film work includes Nowhere to Go But Up, Better Dayz and the upcoming comedy Crossing Over, as well as numerous national commercials. She has toured nationally with Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, which was originally commissioned by the New York Historical Society and produced by the American Place Theatre’s Literature to Life program.

Wynn Handman is the artistic director and co-founder of the award winning American Place Theatre and has been a celebrated acting teacher for over 60 years.
