(Los Angeles, May 05, 2017) — JUST OLD WOMAN FROM OLD COUNTRY is proud to have its world premiere at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
JUST OLD WOMAN FROM OLD COUNTRY is written, performed and directed by Los Angeles actress, comedian and Ukrainian, Trina Shpur.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Baba Barrabouyla, an eccentric but loveable character from Ukraine, has landed at the West Hollywood home of her Grandniece, Trina. With Trina’s encouragement (and possibly just to get her out of the house), Baba has undertaken the presentation of this 45 -50 minute show, during which she proudly shows off her Ukrainian heritage and customs, teaches a few Ukrainian words and phrases, offers samples of her special potato vodka and ethnic food, and dispenses her sage advice, all the while displaying her generosity, humor and wisdom.

Over 21 audience.

BIOGRAPHIES
Trina Shpur (writer, director, actress). Originally from Alberta, Canada, Trina moved to Los Angeles in 1996, determined to never experience another cold winter again. So far, she has been successful. She studied at the Piero Dusa Acting Conservatory (Meisner Method) in Santa Monica for over 5 years. She has received stellar reviews for her work in Marvin’s Room (Bessie), Extremities (Terry), Six Degrees of Separation (Kitty), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Mae) and Who Killed Mrs. Bitzer? (Pam Popppinsnatch – a personal favorite)

She has appeared in national and regional commercials for products such as Alka-Seltzer, Tiger Toys, DoubleDown Casino (Wheel of Fortune), One-Main.com and US West Communications. She studied Standup under the fabulous comedienne Bobbie Oliver (Tao of Comedy) and has appeared on the main stages at The Ice House, The Comedy Store and The Laugh Factory.

A long-time SAG/AFTRA member, Trina is excited (and freakin’ scared) to embark on this latest endeavor.

In her spare time (HA!), Trina enjoys watching all sports (especially hockey, eh) and participating in a co-ed softball league. Besides a full-time job at a well known commercial real estate firm, Trina loves animals and is in high demand as a pet-sitter…,more than half of her weekends throughout any given year are booked.

Trina is delighted to introduce you to this project and her special relative, Baba Barraboulya.

Athena posts daily messages of light, love and laughter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (Search for The Affinitive Card of the Day). She has developed her own system of foretelling using just regular playing cards, and is often told later that her impressions were extraordinarily accurate.
