FIERCE BACKBONE
DOES THE
HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FESTIVAL

FIERCE: INTERVENTIONS is one of 3 programs of shorts being produced by Fierce Backbone in the Hollywood Fringe Fest this June.
Through comedy, and poignancy, these plays examine the reasons why some people need interventions, and why others feel the need to intervene even when it’s not needed.

END OF THE LINE
Written by Mona Miller, directed by Herb Isaacs
So you’re on a train with people with suicidal tendencies… Do you join them, stop them, or help them?

BANANA INTERVENTION
Written by Jeremy Kehoe, directed by Courtney Ryan
Two men think their friend is a little too obsessed with bananas. Or is it their own fear of having impure thoughts when eating a phallic object that they’re intervening on?

CLOUDS REST
Written by Nancy Beverly, directed by Cailin Harrison
What if you could have prevented someone from slipping off that precipice? Home alone and sleepless, a man wrestles with why he didn’t say anything…

FIERCE BACKBONE
We are a group of playwrights, actors and directors who gather together
to develop new plays while also developing as artists in our respective fields. We shepherd plays through development from the writer’s first draft—staged readings, workshop performances, full production—with a supportive “peer-review” process, maintaining a writer’s vision through our diverse artistic talents.

This process has yielded our 7 productions in the Hollywood Fringe, encompassing 14 plays by 9 writers, utilizing 11 directors and 28 actors, producing 46 performances in 6 venues.

“The art of writing has for backbone some fierce attachment to an idea.” Virginia Woolf
