A dirty retelling of Achilles. Legend of war. Conqueror in bed.
On the fabled White Island in the Black Sea, three mourners relive their 3,000 year old memories of love. Through laughter and tears they recount the life of world’s greatest hero: Achilles. The story of Achilles’ great love for Patroclus has echoed through time, but what of the others he loved and those not fortunate enough to die in Troy? What are they left with? Watch the survivors pay tribute to the man they love as part of an eternal cycle of divine love and grief.
Allegedly, Achilles slept with half of ancient Greece. His myths predate text, and his temples and hero-worship cults dedicated to him existed into the common era. This irreverent tale captures the spirit of these honors as well as his many naughty myths and still respect, nay, honor the Gods.
David LeBarron, regional representative for National Storytelling Conference, wrote and co-stars in this adaptation by him and “a bunch of dead guys.” The Sex Life of Achilles is directed by Gordon Vandenberg and features designs by Daniel Terrazas. Also performing are Shanna Beauchamp and Rebecca Norris. Choreography by Shanna Beauchamp and original music by award winning composer Rebecca Norris.
