There are Fringe Shows, then there are Shows at the Fringe. This is the latter, and I mean that in the best possible sense. Generation Me is a beautiful, moving, thought-provoking, relevant, passionate, honest and well-crafted production that is so well-executed from top to bottom, it blows away the typical Fringe fare. This show is beautiful, and you need to see it. Bravo. Bra-vo. I hope this company returns and brings us more next year. ...

You may think you’ve seen it before but Generation ME the Musical isn’t just another story about teen suicide. In all honesty, this new full-length musical from three first-time writers is the surprise of the festival. It has moments – a lot of them – that will knock the wind out of you, and for much of the performance I attended, the audience was so quiet and so engaged you could hear a pin drop.
It’s a great example of how the right people telling the right story can move an audience with their honesty. This is a musical with something to say and it does it without being heavy-handed or melodramatic. Because of that, it can’t help but affect you. The revelations that come in Act II alone will make you reevaluate what you think you know ...

Generation Me is a beautiful and important story that needs to be told. The talented cast effortlessly tackles the themes of bullying, suicide, peer pressure and sex. Musical numbers and choreography complement the show and only add to the emotional ride of the production.
This show should be on everyone's Fringe "Must-See" list! ...

Wow!!!
Four days later and I'm still processing everything from Generation Me. It was wonderful, and honest, and chilling, and fun, and funny, and...well, sad. Generation Me presents such an honest and relevant look at teenagers today. Each character is so engaging and relatable to the whole of the story as well as to the audience. I just love this show and I really think it's something everyone needs to see.
This is the other (and more relevant) High School Musical. If you are a teenager, you'll love it. If you're no longer a teenager, but still remember life in high school, you'll love it and wish this show had been around for you too. ...

Coming into the show, I had heard so much about Gen Me, yet I was still not prepared for what I experienced. The amazing cast of talented teens and young adults carry the superbly written music and book wonderfully, giving the audience the experience of a lifetime. It is such a deep play, rich with humor and so much raw emotion. It deals heavily with very serious topics that I believe are so necessary in addressing in today's society, especially to our youth, and portrays them in such an honest, realistic way that you really leave the show pondering bigger issues in life than what you're going to buy at Starbucks on the way home. It gives viewers a renewed sense of how to live life and how your actions affect others. Come prepared to laugh,...

At Fringe, one of my first questions about a show is “how long is it?” mainly because I stack shows and see several a day. This show is longer than most – past the 2 hour mark, and I can say for sure it is 100% worth every second. Well written and masterfully performed, Generation Me is this year’s MUST SEE musical. I’ve seen many shows this year, including a LOT of musicals, and no one can compare to these kids! With a cast of under-18s we miss out on seeing them at Fringe Central or other Fringe parties that are 18+, but don’t let that discourage you. The cast in phenomenally talented (we “grown ups” at Fringe should be looking up to THEM!) and the show has high production value all around from the music, choreography to even the set and l...

What makes "Generation Me" work is the energy and urgency with which the cast conveys the material. I mean - it's not like we necessarily needed another play or musical about suicide in high school. After "Bare: A Pop Opera" and "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead" (both of which are borrowed from in this piece), the ground seems to have been covered. That said, there was something about "Generation Me" that really stuck with me. Maybe it was the energetic ensemble; maybe it was the attention to language and teenage vernacular; or maybe it that the show focused less on the actual suicide and more on the effects the suicide has on everyone.
This is the epitome of a Fringe show: the set is sparse, the lighting and sound design...

u/EllenDostal just posted a totally accurate review. This show is so genuine you get completely immersed in the story and these peoples' lives. Not these characters' lives. These people, these teenagers, live on stage. It's gold. It's precious. It's perfect theatre.
Everyone up there is totally natural comfortable, and just nailing these songs, scenes, and dance numbers. I was like, where did these guys come from? Answer: Flying Monkey Productions in Sacramento. Sign me up for that newsletter. ...
