I've seen a lot of shows this year.a lot of them brilliant. However the most brilliant in terms of writing and acting is AfterLoves written by Ron Hanks and Betsy Reisz and starring Ron Hanks and Betsy Reisz. Absolutely Brilliant. Heaven has theme days. And pranks. And no birds. And lots of dating. The show starts very strongly. Both actors are exceptional performers. The script's concept and execution are worthy of another draft with more research incorporated into each of the characters. Even with amusing characters, the later scenes of bickering drag the show a bit, but it ends very sweetly. If you like myriads of characters and a clever hook, this show is for you!... full review

I loved this show! A very unique assortment of historical characters are paired together to create screamingly funny scenarios and conversations about love, life, sex and their own dating hang-ups. The characters are sketched out so well, and layered with historical details and just flat-out outrageous humor to make you laugh, cringe, get a bit misty even. Really fantastically written - I couldn't wait to see who was going to appear on stage next, and I wanted to see more fun pairings when it was over. Great fun and so very well acted - anxious, awkward, sassy, sexy, weird, bored, irritated - they covered a lot of ground and effortlessly went from one scenario to the next.... full review

AFTERLOVE: LOVE LIFE IN THE AFTERLIFE, written by and performed by Ron Hanks and Betsy Reisz is one of the most brilliant and inventive shows I have seen at this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival. In the dating pool of the afterlife, there are a LOT of choices. The show presents 8 couples of public figures across time and space as they attempt to create new and continued love with each other in the after life in heaven. I asked Ron Hanks and Betsy Reisz how they decided on the characters and combinations for the show, and both told me they each had certain characters they really wanted to play and then figured out how any of them could have been matched up in heaven. Straddling the worlds of sketch comedy and theater, this show is brilli... full review
