Funny play with amazing performances by 4 women. Take a friend, laugh at the stupidity of marketing, and then talk about it aferwards. Because this is based on something that actually happened. I loved all the characters, but especially Carol, who's just trying to find connection with other people! A lovely job by evryone involved.... full review

Ditto to all of the positive reviews. The writing, directing and performing were practically flawless. I hope for future collaborations between Ms. Mead and Ms. Ozymandias. Interesting tension created by the characters breaking - yet not breaking - the 4th wall. Ms. James maintained a visual focus somewhere above the audience that I found distracting, but overall her self-deprecating character was charming. Pacing was impressive, strong character development and each character was unique, believable and, yes I'll say it, "lovable." Great ensemble work, lots of laughs, excellent perspective on the "roles" of women today. What's not to love?... full review

It's rare when you find one developed female character on stage these days, but this play has four. They start out as "types," but quickly reveal themselves to be complicated women striving for various goals, while still retaining their dignity and humanity. Playwright Alyson Mead has done a fine job showing what it's like to be a woman in these days, while also calling out the retro sexism of the pen made for women. Danielle Ozymandias, the play's director, keeps it simple with the four characters sitting in chairs on a blank stage. It's fun to watch this very humorous show, and take away a few things to consider on the way home. A pen made for women, or to write your congressperson about something that's bothering you? You get to decide, w... full review

"The Other F Word" is a heartfelt comedic journey through the process of being in a focus group...or becoming a feminist...or just living as a woman in a world that makes everything into a product. Fast and funny, the play entertains and elucidates, with a great cast.... full review

The pen really exists. This is a real thing, during the performance I thought it was just part of the story- but once they started reading the reviews I realized, 'Holy crap they they're serious.' A inventive take on theatrical storytelling it became more of a discussion then a performance. Although it was a performance with some fun zingers and thoughtful structure, this change in gear was definitely appreciated. Always glad to see a show that actively takes on issues, and for a great cause as well!... full review

As a fan of the real-life backlash to the real-life product detailed in this play, I was excited to see what the Crooked Heart team would do in its exploration of "Bic For Her." The four characters at the imagined focus group for this pen had thoughts and reactions that resonated with my own. and I was pleased to see a trans woman included among the four, as I hadn't considered that perspective before. Writer Alyson Mead topic was handled thoughtfully, with solid performances of overlapping monologues done via minimalistic seated staging. I followed with interest, but I believe that alternating monologues with scenes of the women interacting together would have drawn me in further. I was curious about a character discussed only i... full review

Loved this, and wish I could see it again. Terrific characters, and the fact that it had a social message made it even better. A daring effort in minimal staging, filled with subtle yet precise movements, made for an interesting experience in the theater. I have not seen something like this since I lived in New York a few years back, so I feel that it would fit in well there. Loved the character of Roxanne, and her amazing grit and humanity. Many shades of gray in this piece, and lots to talk about afterward. ... full review

This was an excellent example of "a good story, well told." As the four actors speak from their respective places on stage, it is the expert writing and engaging charcters that kept this piece moving, and by the end you are totally invested in each storyline. ... full review

Unbelievable cast. You don't usually expect this kind of professionalism at Fringe Festivals (at least I don't), but this production was top notch. Funny, on-point writing, clean direction and most of all, a point of view. Multiple characters arcs, among the characters themselves, within their own lives, and then with characters appearing off-stage, give the piece a lot of depth. Conflict comes both from within themselves, between other members of the cast as they size one another up before the group, and afterwards, when they battle the pen company online. Brava for turning a bumbled marketing effort into a triumphant story about the human spirit. ... full review

It's refreshing to see an play that fits in the "Arty" and "Feminist" categories NOT alienate the audience. I am firm believer that to make change in the world, humor and accessibility are the best ways to make your point. 'The Other F Word' really allows the concept of women as equals to shine without bashing it in to our skulls. This feminist piece is very man friendly. And to win the war of equality, we need the other side to join ours. Alyson Mead truly writes to both sexes. Because what's the point if who's minds we are trying to change won't listen? Danielle Ozymandias's direction takes this "sit in a chair and recount" piece to a lively witty banter between the women. You feel as if you are chatting with girlfriends over co... full review
