Dating: Adults Embracing Failure

What a show! Lindy and Josh are absolute talents that will knock you off your feet in ways you didn't know possible. Charming, endearing, and engaging are a handful of adjectives that come to mind when describing this show. Seamlessly directed, these two use minimal props and maximum acting chops to bring us to both hilarious and heartfelt places in the "dating" world. You can easily pinpoint moments of a "Second City, Chicago-Roots" feel, especially during their transition "button" beats that ne... full review

Lost in Falling

An intimate, heartfelt glimpse into the life of two individuals searching for answers. A huge nod to Frank Ledezma's directing, which flowed wonderfully between the present and past: the movement kept everything engaging. A very powerful piece by Brandon Gillette. With adjustments outside of the Fringe, we'd love to see a longer rendition!... full review

House of Rabbits - Charivari in Voyeurville

Excellently executed, this piece, with its commedia dell'arte backbone, plunges you into a strange, fantastical playground, full of naughty creatures and tantalizing tales. Theatre Unleashed knows how to entertain. Sleeping Around uses the tool of circular storytelling to explore the dynamics of open relationships and intimacy. These "scenic snapshots," which rotate through different couples, is always kept fresh and engaging: from emotional highs to lows, there is no corner untouched. Today's relationship culture is obscenely complex and constantly changing: Sleeping Around explores this with great fearlessness and heart, challenging us to reflect on just what "int... full review

BEYOND - Unemployed. Finally.

kelly d'angelo · June 08, 2015 certified reviewer
Most actors stand at an arms distance. Few hold out their hand and pull you in tightly, wrapping their arms around you as they guide you through their storytelling. Heather Dowling not only gracefully succeeds in doing the latter, but does so with such heart-bearing honesty that you're sitting on the edge of every word she says and each character she performs, cheering her on. From brilliantly comedic to vulnerable, Heather leaves no corner of her life's ups and downs untouched. It takes great... full review

Indians in a Box: there is no "I" in NDN

kelly d'angelo · June 08, 2015 uncertified reviewer
This solo show is a beautiful exploration of a woman trying to find and justify her Indian identity, amongst the conflicting definitions of what is "American Indian" in today's world. Ranging from comedic to powerful, Jennifer captures a mentality and struggle that is all-too present in the Native community with her dynamic characters and commanding performance. Her ability to convey the comedy, the irony, and the suffering allows you to understand the breath of this topic and just how important ... full review
