Coming of Age at 65

Hilarious, heartfelt, and humble, Gerry reminds me of a Norman Rockwell character, if that character happened to be a degenerate gambler with a traumatic childhood. He is a performer who shows up entirely as himself. He pulls from a deep well of life lessons learned the hard way, but his love for his family and fellow recovering humans is tangible and touching. Gerry frequently references the creative writing talents of his children in giving him material to use, but its through his lens of hones... full review

Waiting For A Show

I'm so glad I saw this show. I didn't know what to expect. At all. It was one of my favorite experiences of Fringe. A hilarious lightning round of inside jokes, theatre humor, and genuinely touching ode's to why any of us are at Fringe in the first place. We all love to see ourselves on stage, and Miles is the perfect vehicle.... full review

Heart of Golden Tar

A beautiful, existential drama. A work of poetry as much as a piece of theatre. Drew is an artist's artist and an actor's actor. He is bold and brave and he fills the stage with courage and raw energy, but he also bares himself without affect or pretense. This play is lofty yet intricate, expansive yet intimate, and while it leaves much to be interpreted, Drew's passion, craft, and heart are inarguably left on the stage.... full review

Prince Harry: Live! At Coachella

This was SUCH a great time! I loved this show so much, not just as a fun theatre piece, but as an actual pop performance! Chris is a rock star, and his commitment to enjoying the limelight the way only a royal could is such a treat to behold. His songs are hilarious, his dancing is delightful, his spoken interludes are fun, and the production actually feels like this could go over well at a much bigger music venue. I bow down to Chris and Prince Harry.... full review

BUGS!

I love BUGS! This show rocks and crawls around underneath it. It's an absurd, hilarious, wonderful time, full of loudly shouted non-sense, surprisingly well harmonized songs, and one very good David Attenborough impression. Come ready to have a silly, off-the-wall (on-the-wall?) time of punk rock sketch comedy and theatre.... full review

Morning Coffee

Like a toxic relationship, this show keeps sucking you back in even though you know it's probably going to hurt. Brimming with biting humor as salty as a cup of coffee, this show is helmed magnificently by the pair of leads who leave no emotional scab unscratched. Will they? Won't they? Who cares, it's fascinating and entertaining to watch.... full review

Waking Up To All Of Me

Amber delivers a vibrant, vulnerable performance that holds nothing back while being very fun to watch. She's playful and bursting with energy while also clearly containing the wisdom of lessons learned the hard way. Her show is a scenic journey through a life lived uphill, but told in a way that's always a joy filled ride.... full review

THE JASON HELFGOTT EXPERIENCE

dan prevette · June 23, 2023 certified reviewer
I went to Jason's final show, which he officially declared a dance party, and I'll be honest, it might have been the most fun I had at Fringe. We laughed, we danced, and we watched him pretend to blow up a ball he didn't bring. It was pure fun, and I loved it.... full review

M.A.D.D. About The Boy

dan prevette · June 23, 2023 certified reviewer
I have never had so much fun while feeling so old. This is an awesomely Gen-Z show, and Roni is gets my vote for the Cher Horowitz of the TikTok age. Roni is an absolute machine and her performance is a physical feat. Exercising is hard enough, but doing so while nailing comedic timing transports the show into an almost vaudevillian sphere. It's a blast to watch. ... full review

Rotten Apple

I dare you not to cry. This is a beautifully poetic, intimate, frequently very funny look at the pain of religious trauma, and the resurrection of spiritual rebirth. As specific as the circumstances of the narrative are, the themes are universal and eternal. Mariela is a wonderful performer who not only embodies multiple characters with ease, but brings a rich and textured point of view that makes the world a brighter place. ... full review
