What I liked
This was a very impressive Fringe set and one Escape Room I’d be down to explore! Bravo for the innovation and detail-rich props and gadgets! In the spirit of the environment where the show takes place, I like how the pacing was established and how these two characters were forced to play within the rules of time constraints and also, the uncomfortable nature of being in such close proximity of each other.
What I didn't like
An experienced dramturg could benefit this piece to remove some of the repetition present in the script. When new information isn’t being introduced and the dialogue is sounding like the chorus of a song (even a Taylor Swift one), it’s time for fresh eyes to help the narrative grow. Food for thought…
My overall impression
Escape rooms are supposed to be fun, right??? Right!?! Not in the middle of a break-up. Wowsa! This is a comical premiss set up from the very start of the show and fully explored as two actors have to wade in the thick of what went wrong, why one didn’t see it coming, etc. Alas, love can, indeed go sour, but the dramedy was in full bloom with this show from start to finish!
