What I didn't like
Would love to see how this show evolves and I believe it has many lives and can continue to grow.
My overall impression
Michael’s masterful use of physical comedy and pathos took us on a journey into a life I really know nothing about( I’m not gay, male and painfully far from 20-something!), but I was fully engaged from the start. In all of the hysteria, masterbating so frequently and repetitively that it causes him to develop “tennis elbow,” Michael’s physical comedy is bold, raw, risky, hilarious and so compelling. One of my favorite “scenes” was when Michael decides he is going to try the dating apps after his lover has left him. First up: “Nude” photos! With such dexterity as if an athletically fit swimmer training for the Olympics, Michael takes the most creative and hilarious selfies with the assistance of his full length mirror. It goes on and on, getting more creative and absurd. Absolutely priceless. What I also appreciated, which is rare, is that not only did you feel completely taken care of as an audience member in that Michael had a way of “nodding” to us, but his silence, the silent moments, where he just paused or drank some water, landed like a wash of emotional depth on all of us watching him, and that emotion is universally relatable. The need to connect, the need to understand our pain and the choices we make, we all ask those questions of ourselves, don’t we? And if we don’t, maybe he gave us permission to do so. Really beautiful. Bravo!
