What I liked

The cast was for the most part completely invested in making these broad characters believable and human. They didn’t shy away from humor but took themselves seriously when the play called for it.

The crew who assisted with the physical work blew me away. They always seemed to come out of nowhere and kept everything moving smoothly.

The script took dark turns I didn’t see coming. And rather than feel forced or manipulated, they followed the story’s structure so they could be earned in the end.

What I didn't like

The lack of transition music bothered me, it seems so much could be done with that type of story. The script could’ve gotten past the exposition and into the deeper story elements faster, I think the audience would catch up.

My overall impression

Tattered Capes takes the superhero formula and twists it in unexpected ways. Led by a fun cast of characters and anchored by terrific physical work, the lighter elements of the script are combatted by darker ones that you might not see coming. Much like an effective superhero story that you’d read or see.
