The transitions between songs kept it moving nicely, one of my favorites being finishing a song as Rosalind, then plucking a single note as Ophelia without skipping a beat.
The lyrics and use of Shakespeare’s text were beautifully fully intertwined, and really made their own points rather than just rehashing dialogue.
What I didn't like
I wish we could’ve been closer to the stage, there was a strange, large gap between the audience and the stage.
My overall impression
Such a lovely piece. The songs were very original, ranging from comedic to dramatic in a seamless fashion. Laura Jo Trexler embues such a passion in each song, and isn’t afraid to get performative with each one. One of the more original Fringe pieces I’ve seen, I can’t recommend it highly enough.
