Such a brave piece, yet so accessible to the watcher. Leigh Curran boldly addresses fears and failings around motherhood in way that women of all ages can recognize. Amber Alert! Just thought you should know, the characters in your head have taken up residence in my head. Thank you for a great evening and a cherished friendship. The play, the script, your performance, the direction, and the choices...All brilliant and compelling. (Please give Mary Pat a shout out for me) More words: Engaging, moving, honest, brave, funny, clever, heartfelt, hopeful, poignant, smart, sagacious and sweet. It's an evening not to be missed. To paraphrase a line from your play, "Your life is in the eyes of all you have touched." Gratefully yours, Gary P.S. I promise to be a worthy custodian of your beloved characters. ... full review

in my opinion, this was one of the best written pieces in the fringe. it flowed. it made sense. it was easy to follow. and leigh was lovely. she shared and didn't hold back and we were with her every step of the beautiful way. it's 90 minutes, which frankly, scared the bajeesus out of me, and not many people can hold an audiences attention for that long (much less one person), but Leigh did it so adeptly and effortlessly, you will experience many moments of timelessness. And if you work with kids like i do (and yes, I too, devoted many hours to Leigh's creation—the virginia avenue project)— it's extra special to see the 'boss' knock it out of the PARK!... full review

"Why Water Falls" is an engaging, dramatic, and thought provoking piece of theatre. One person plays are challenging for audiences, and Leigh Curran pulls it off here with tremendous grace and intensity. She blurs the lines between her personal moments and those of her fictional characters, creating a glimpse into the unique life of a veteran actor, writer, educator and community activist. At close to 90 minutes without intermission, "Why Water Falls" is a treat for theatre lovers seeking an original experience from a contemporary authentic voice.... full review

Such a brave piece that every woman of every age can identify with. While I would have liked more character work in her flashbacks, the three distinct parts of Curran are entertaining & distinct and carry the show nicely. ... full review

An emotionally raw show about motherhood, memory and the line between truth and fiction. Curran switches adeptly between three distinct characters as she slowly uncovers her own truths. There were parts of this show that could have been ripped from my diary, speaking to my own fears about motherhood. Well done!... full review

"Why Water Falls" is quite astonishing. First, in its honesty, it cuts into us with enormous emotional affect. Wonderfully structured and balanced. it takes you through the life of a writer with a couple of recalcitrant characters living within her. Each of these three characters is specific and defined, and the way in which Leigh Curran bounces between all three of them manages to make us howl with laughter and then weep within minutes of each other. Of all the shows I saw in this year's Fringe Festival this is the one that stands out for me. ... full review
