This is an excellent piece of theatre. The director, Reena Dutt, has created a compelling journey for the main character, Shelly (skillfully played with wit and charming vulnerability by Laura Emanuel) as she tries to find a place for herself in a new environment, separated from everything she once used to define herself. It was a pleasure watching a character "grow up" onstage and find her voice (or a good pair of "trainers!"). Andrew Boyle is delightful as a range of crisp and connected characters. I found myself transported and carried along in the very capable hands of this team. I highly recommend this production. ... full review

How does a relationship survive & how do you remain authentically yourself within that relationship when one partner's needs & terms dominate? This is a tough subject to take on, and the play doesn't offer any answers. It does explore one woman's attempt to find her answer. The play does a good job of highlighting the more traditional, male-privileged relationship without preaching, and the actors hit the high & low notes without sentimentality. The directing is top notch - excellent visual storytelling that captures the claustrophobia, the desperation, & the love under it all.... full review

Waitless lends insight to the challenges of long distance relationships and how one's self image can be up-ended when life presents unforeseen barriers and obstacles. Waitless is an accomplishment for all involved, writer, director and actors. Truly a team effort but the actors get the prize for running the extra mile :) Well done! ... full review

A remarkable piece of theater, and one of the best "relationship" plays I've ever seen. Cailin Harrison's taught script centers on a couple who are both on great career trajectories in New York, until He gets a transfer to London, and she gives up her career to join him. Sounds like a standard story we've heard before--but Harrison pours so much detail into the script it's like we are truly witnessing these peoples lives. And then the ending, well, my friends and I all came out saying, "What a great ending!" (no spoilers:) Laura Emanuel as the wife gives a heartfelt performance, especially once she breaks the 4th wall and addresses us directly. Andrew Boyle is an absolute wonder as the husband, and a plethora of other characters--it... full review

Impressive staging! So much was done with so little! There was never a question about what was happening. Superb acting, the true character became very real. The story represents so many young couples trying desperately to meet their commitments to themselves, their mates, and their careers. Something must always be put on hold in loves desperate effort to survive.... full review

Waitless is a wonderful piece about a marriage, a race for something better on a different continent, and how the one who ends up waiting for their new life to begin handles spending so much time alone. Funny, wry, heartfelt, with spot-on props, sound, lighting, and acting all fully realizing Cailin Harrison's pitch perfect words, this is a Fringe show you DON'T want to miss. ... full review

Keep in mind, I am inclined to dislike stories about rich people problems, so this wasn't for me. While I found the use of space engaging, and watching Andrew Boyle spin from character to character was wholly entertaining, I couldn't help getting distracted by the thought that the major conflict in this piece was one that I couldn't remotely relate to. A big chunk of the show was devoted to how to entertain oneself living in London with an endless supply of money. Though we were to believe that central female character felt trapped, we didn't know why she dropped everything for her husband in multiple instances. He seemed like a sweet guy, but she quit a job that made her happy so they could take a vacation...? The potentially compelling con... full review

LOVED IT. One of my favorite Fringe plays this year. Playwright Cailin Harrison takes us on a voyage of a modern, hectic marriage that's fraying and does it in such a specific and clever way, I never stopped listening and caring. Kudos to Reema Dutt for the imaginative staging and actors Andrew Boyle (who plays not just the husband but a slew of other roles) and Laura Emanuel for their spot on performances.... full review
