I had no idea what to expect, although I've been pleasantly surprised by Fringe shows in the past. This was f'ing spectacular! The songs were smart, funny, and dirty. The singing and acting were over the top! Ms. Sperrazza made a wonderful possessed girl!... full review

A show built for the Fringe. It's fun, and worth seeing just for Laura Sperrazza. All of the faults this play has, and there aren't many, are all covered up by the inventive script. It is designed for the Fringe. So when the mics aren't loud enough, or taped onto the actors' faces correctly, or the band is playing too loud because they don't have proper monitors, it's all part of the show! It's supposed to be like that! a kind of genius way to hide the flaws you know you're going to have (10 minutes set-up before every show is kind of impossible for a musical, sound checking being the most crucial, and time-consuming part of it). Any flaw that may be there is made a brilliant part of the show as the cast just hangs a lantern on it and shows ... full review

It was really funny and I loved the girl who was possessed. I wasn't sure where they were going with it at first but it was a very original idea and fun. My only criticism was that during one or two of the musical numbers my attention was fading and they almost seemed to be there to fill time so the actors/actresses could do a quick change. Very entertaining show though and I'm very glad I went to see it. This is the time of experimental theater I come to the Fringe for.... full review

Amazing. Going in, you gotta know what you're getting yourself into. Just the concept alone is hysterical. But man, nothing can prepare you for the outright hilarity that ensues. Lot's of clever stage tricks, meta-theater shenanigans, and sexy fun times. Great music. A real treat!... full review

Funny as Hell! And silly as shite. And it's all worth hustling down to Open Fist Theatre to see, because Exoricistic: The Rock Musical Parody Experiment more than lives up to its name. I loved it because while they writer Michael Shaw Fisher and director Pat Towne and the entire company is respectful of the source material (the book and film), they have such fun going to town blowing the whole thing up -- I couldn't help but laugh and smile. Vulgar? Yes, deeply so, at times. But, good news, it ain't gratuitously so. Or if it is, they earn it. A crazy conceit of a show within a show, Orgasmo Productions have a great thing going. Not the least of which is some great songs performed by a crack combo. They pull off the rock, they pull off t... full review

Well, it's high concept for sure, as a play-within-a-play. And yet, in a way, it's very simple. This is a genre I love so I was excited to see it in any form onstage. Some of it works for me, some of it doesn't. This show is full of amazing, strong singers who are a joy to listen to. Personally I think not all of the material they're given is equally as strong, and they're often distracted by the need to be funny rather than given the opportunity to delve into a character and a story. Then again, it's a parody. The possessed girl (Regan/Megan) is incredible, and somehow just gets better and better as the show goes on. Her physical antics are mesmerizing, and she is fully committed to the character, to which I can attribute much of th... full review

Michael has done it again. Fun, crazy and original. The songs snapped, crackled and popped. Would love to single out performers but it's quite accurate to say everyone is this cast are exceptional players and vocalists. The gold standard.... full review

I'm afraid this is not going to be a particularly cogent or insightful review. Unfortunately, that's not really possible for me. I think Exorcistic was probably quite clever and funny, but I'm not really sure. The reason? The terrible sound mix. There just wasn't enough space in such a small theater for a heavily amplified band. Even though they had microphones, the singers were drowned out to the point where the lyrics were largely indistinguishable to me. I feel like I only caught about 1/3 of the show. Very frustrating. If this moves to a bigger venue, the sound levels might work, but not where it was.... full review
