Dramatis Personae

Dazzling inventive, stunningly unique, and brilliantly performed by Kris Bicknell, this is one of those rare shows which offers more than first meets the eye. Far more. Kudos to ALL involved in this absolute gem. In fact, if you can see only ONE show at this year's Fringe Festival... well, see MINE. (lol) But if you can see TWO, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better one than this. Truly not-to-be-missed! ... full review

Brilliantly clever -- truly impressive writing by Thomas. Matched closely by his acting. Make no mistake about it, this is the work of a major playwright. Go. Period.... full review

A Gay Importance of Being Earnest

A delight from beginning to end... and perhaps one of my favorite productions of this play I've ever seen. With smart direction, an absolutely spot-on cast, and a conceit which works brilliantly, this is a show that deserves a life long past the Fringe. A huge KUDOS to all involved (including the clever photography/graphic design to the perfectly suggestive costumes, to the guy who made the cucumber sandwhiches. lol) Oscar Wilde is probably twerking (with delight) in his grave.... full review

Why I Died, a Comedy!

A tilt-a-whirl ride of truly big ideas -- all expressed with geniune heart, humor, and feeling. Rubin's also a bona-fide actress, and her ability to slip into a dizzying array of other characters is impressive. She's a confident, engaging performer, and her show leaves you with plenty to think about -- even, dare I say it -- INSPIRED. Kudos.... full review

OPEN MIKE

With unfailing charm and honesty, Cline exposes his life and trials with grace, wit, and exceptionally well-written songs. In what could easily have become another maudlin story of a "survivor" (which he truly is), he manages to vividly recreate the people, places and events which made him who is with such clarity, specificity, and good humor that he leaves the audience feeling priveleged to have spent the time with him. A brave, moving, and inspiring piece of work.... full review

Who Am I And What The Hell Am I Doing?

Can't remember the last time I saw a show that had me DYING to see more. 30-something minutes is simply not enough of this jaw-droppingly funny, inventive and -- yes -- quirky (in the BEST possible sense of the word, despite her protestations to the contrary) performer. She is truly a comic force to be reckoned with. As if that weren't enough, she makes it look so effortless... In fact, I kind of hate her. (In the best possible sense. :) May very well turn out to be my favorite show of the ... full review

ROMEO AND JULIET IN HELL

With the jokes and quips flying fast and furious from the word "go," Richey -- and his versatile, spirited cast -- doesn't miss a trick in the book. Inventive, sharp, and laugh-out-loud funny, it's a crowd pleaser... even for those who got by in High Shcool reading the Cliff Notes. (Hey, don't look at ME...) A show that will hopefully have the life beyond Fringe it so richly deserves.... full review

Bronies: The Musical

Whether you're a closet-Bronie, and out-and-proud one, or someone (like me) who'd never even heard the term before, you'll find yourself smiling from beginning to end at the sweetness of this charming show -- and the heartful exuberance evidenced by the cast. That it also manages to impart a message of tolerance and good will is only an extra ribbon on its sparkly mane. Kudos to all involved.... full review

Fancy: Secrets from my Bootydoir

What can I say that hasn't already been said? A rollicking good time from beginning to end, Chris knows how to get an audience to eat out of the palm of her red-satin-gloved hand. Vulgarity has never been so funny -- or so freakin' adorable!... full review

BEYOND - Schachner Vs. Schachner

richard tanner · June 18, 2014 uncertified reviewer
Riveting from beginning to end. Not to mention funny, shocking, poignant, suspenseful, and inventive as hell. With the simplest of props and conceits (in this case, the framing device of a boxing match), Schachner spins a tale of love, abandonment, personal identity, betrayal, truth-seeking, and so much more. A natural storyteller, comfortable in her own skin despite the discomfort of her subject matter, she draws in the audience so that we're hanging on her every word. Truly an impressive ac... full review
