The premise is silly, and the characters seem silly at first too. But as you get to know them, learn their history and their love for each other and mai tais, they become increasingly relatable. Each character is played with real sincerity, each gets big well deserved laughs, and the their moments of heart break are genuinely sad. It’s a one of a kind ride. Don’t skip it.
What I didn't like
I didn’t expect to end up outside recounting past break ups with my fellow viewers, but maybe this is more of a warning than something to be improved. I loved the show.
My overall impression
This show was a heartbreaking, laugh-out-loud, pleasure to watch. The cast has wonderful chemistry and the “Fringiness” of the production plays to it’s strengths. An absurd premise takes some very real turns that audibly had people in my audience reacting with sighs and laughs that sounded all too clearly as though each of us were saying, “oh no, that’s me.”
