What I liked

The Sentence is an amazing show that keeps you riveted while it invites you to wonder “what happened?” throughout its runtime. It’s two fully-realized characters feel like people you know and would root for, showing you who they are as individuals and as a team. The brilliantly-written script lets the actors play, push, and pull us emotionally. I absolutely enjoyed watching these two talented actresses perform in this play and give us complicated characters to observe, laugh with, and tear up over.

What I didn't like

My only notes about The Sentence are that I wish it was longer, and that there were a few miscues with the tech. In the first part of the show when the interrogating officer’s questions appeared on the projector, there seemed to have been a missed or skipped-over question. Hannah and Ainsley adjusted accordingly, but that miscue took me out of it a little. Other than that, I can’t think of much else that could be improved.

My overall impression

The Sentence is a phenomenal show! Hannah Moore and Ainsley Ferrell co-direct with the creativity of veteran theater directors, they both produce the show with a ton of skill and heart, their chemistry is riveting, and their design work on this show is simple yet engaging. The two of them are so magnetic that it’s impossible to look away from them as they do their thing. The story, the acting, the production, the direction, and the delivery of this show make it an LA Fringe Fest best!
