From the writing to the performance to the perfectly placed incorporation of KP’s songs, Cherry is a just a win across the board. Sarah Carroll brings a whirlwind of energy and charisma that I have yet to see matched at Fringe thus far and somehow makes her incredibly specific story so, so, so relatable for everyone, even a guy who decidedly did not grow up in Sydney listening to Katy Perry on a daily basis. She reminds us all that our personal story is worth telling and that people out there are just waiting to hear it… but she just happens to do so by cracking jokes, dancing her ass off, singing with heart, and generally crushing it on stage. Loved this show so much.
What I didn't like
Impossible, the show was perfect.
My overall impression
Absolutely brilliant. Sarah Carroll is a force to be reckoned with. This show is hilarious, gut wrenching, heart warming… and somehow all about Katy Perry?!? I really hope that Cherry gets a second life beyond Fringe because everyone needs to see it immediately.
