What I liked

There are moments that really click. Julian freaking out every time Taylor solves a puzzle because he’s worried it’ll trigger his proposal is the sort of manic comedic energy that the show needed a bit more of. Also, I thought the moment Taylor makes her feelings clear to Julian really hit.

What I didn't like

Honestly, there’s a good idea here, but I feel like the show needs to lean into its unique environment more. There’s so many opportunities for ridiculousness in the high-stress environment of a timed escape room. Instead, most of the show is just Taylor and Julian sitting down and talking, which could have happened anywhere, really. The third character, Onyx, is just distracting. Also, I had trouble hearing Julian at times, which wasn’t the case with the other two performers involved.

My overall impression

Disappointing. An excellent premise that to me, didn’t deliver. While balancing comedy with the emotional turmoil of a breakup can be a hard tightrope to walk, Stuck With You really seemed like it needed more of both. The escape room itself only factors into the plot minimally and the third character, Onyx, seemed entirely unneeded and pretty distracting. Jade Crenian, however, does turn in a strong performance as Taylor.
