What I liked
The script. The cast. Craig Taggart gives a performance worthy of a Tony and Shaw Jones’s study of a broken man is sheer perfection. Jiggs Burgess is one of our new voices in theatre!
I am returning for the final performance today, bring others.
What I didn't like
One thing only. The choice of direction, having Shaw Jones sit in the audience during Carrol’s brilliant, raw, disturbing and compelling monologue brilliantly performed by Taggart . I wanted to see Robert’s face, his reaction.
In that, the buzz, the awards, the sold out shows… this play is what theatre is all about. Funny, touching, thought provoking and jaw-dropping.
My overall impression
This play is just staggering. Jiggs Burgess one-act with this amazing cast of two, Shaw Jones and Criag Taggart, takes us on a journey that is funny, disturbing and thought provoking. The subject matter is raw, graphic and shocking. In that, the mixture of tones is masterful… Burgess, Taggart and Shaw giving us a much needed laugh just when we are exhausted from the haunting past and the theme of vengeance that fuels this seemingly very personal story. Every review, every award is so well deserved.
