What I liked
This script is a perfectly crafted collection of veteran stories recounting their time and experience in Afghanistan dealing with the Taliban.
Right off the bat, you are captivated by the brilliant storytelling by Charles Pacello (Captain Lindsay) and Chris Wood’s (Sergeant) calm & poignant delivery as they discuss what it’s like preparing for and the aftermath of coming home from war.
Demetris Hartman (Geardo) delivers a compelling and powerful performance as a Vet, who you cross paths with almost on a daily basis here in Los Angeles. His performance displays a full range of emotions with his portrayal of Geardo and moves you to understand how important military life can truly be in shaping an individual. Mueen Jahan (Farjaad) brings a sweet and much needed light hearted tone to the show with his amazing ability to lead the audience into his story as the interpreter.
Overall, the cast worked well as a whole to intertwine these stories into a cohesive piece.
What I didn't like
Would have liked to see more light cues to guide the audience on where to fix their attention. I would add some stage scenery and props. The actors who mimed objects did a good job but there are just certain elements, especially with a show like this, that are needed and would have just elevated the experience.
My overall impression
If I could sum up ‘We Got Your Six’ in one word it would be: “Powerful!”
