In an era with escalating hate crimes against Asian Americans, this show is a moving reflection on growing up without fitting in. Meg Lin shares a compelling story of a young life dealing with self-hate in a household haunted by a mentally ill mother. There is just enough laughter to let you draw an occasional breath as Meg shares her trauma and eventual peace with the conflicts in her life. Meg Lin is intensely present and honest in this compelling one woman show.... full review

I thoroughly enjoyed "What Am I, Chopped Suey?". It was heartfelt, funny, sad, inspiring and as an Asian American Female, very relatable. I feel there's a need for us to hear these stories so that we don't feel isolated and insecure. And if we start sharing these stories more, we can actually come together and have empathy and compassion for one another instead of competition and comparison. And not just as "asians" per se but as overall humanity as we all share the same instinct to survive and need the for support and desire to be loved. ... full review

Meg provoked thoughtful introspection about the most impactful experiences in my own life by openly, and courageously sharing hers. Meg summoned versions of herself at the most pivotal times of her life, taking us with her back in time, feeling her joy and pain, and then laughing about our shared humanity and vulnerabilities, while learning about ourselves and what we have in common. I left the theatre grateful that I was able to witness this performance and inspired to pursue my dreams as Meg has pursued and realized hers. ... full review
