What I liked

David Haverty is a walking breathing tour de force, and he once again lives up to billing. Menacing but haunted, he thrusts the story forward with his distinct brand of controlled chaos. He is always a joy to watch. Likewise Leigh Wulff is amazing and voice stunning. Her character is the emotional anchor in the piece, and her vulnerability and conviction only enhance the intrigue as we all go along on this journey to who knows where. Fisher chimes in as three characters (at least) and reminds us that true art is always about something deeper. Sometimes it’s even about more art. Overall I just thought it was so impressive. With Fisher works, nothing comes easy, and Who’s Afraid of David Lynch only adds to his rich tradition at the Hollywood Fringe. Whenever I leave one of Fisher’s shows I always feel like I have a fresh perspective and at least for a bit, that I sort of, stay in the world that he created. Which I think is what all good art should be; something that makes the days brighter and the nights richer. This is a stellar production all the way around.

What I didn't like

I only wish I had worn my Death of Sam Mobean shirt! :)

My overall impression

Extraordinary storytelling at its most alluring. I am already on the record that Michael Shaw Fisher is one of my favorite writers, full stop, and once again he dazzles Hollywood Fringe audiences as writer/director. The cast is wonderful as they expertly usher us along this whimsical tale, that has no top or bottom, or sides. I loved David Haverty, Leigh Wulff, and Fisher himself, who by now are all old stand-bys in Shaw Fisher works. I’d never seen Misha Reeves or Juan Lozano before but they fit right in with this band of impressive misfits in the best way. Congrats to all involved as nothing short of complete commitment to every moment would have worked. And the show really worked for me, it was such an engaging watch. The choreography and dancing of Lauren Avon and Meridith Lim also strike the perfect chord for the story, and the vocal stylings along with innovating lighting and staging, help to keep the audience perpetually, just off hinge.
