My favorite story was the second chapter, Lou Sullivan, but I was truly touched by how each of the historical figures was distinct and most of their stories weren’t really ABOUT being trans. We don’t see that on stage often enough.
What I didn't like
I loved that each actor had a different storytelling voice, but not every actor was as good a storyteller as the others and the strongest performances consequently drew attention to other’s weaknesses.
My overall impression
A powerful premise and an empowering opportunity for its all-trans cast, this 6-chapter show introduces audiences to real life stories they’ve probably never heard before and provides an important example of how trans stories don’t have to be about being trans.
