What I liked

I liked a lot about this play, clearly. As I mentioned, it provides the viewer with a wide range of emotions throughout. Additionally, I loved the set, the colors, the home videos, and the jumps in time (from live on stage to past “recordings”) – they provided a break from the intensity of the subject matter. Also again, the actors did a lovely job with this material. Truly first rate stuff all around. I thoroughly enjoyed being on this journey with them.

What I didn't like

To be honest, I think the actor’s just needed a bigger space to play around in. The writing is there and so is the acting, but they felt restricted due to the size of the theater. I also think the comedy could be pumped up even more. Jeannette does a wonderful job with the humor already, so I just wanted more I suppose!

My overall impression

I haven’t been moved to tears by a live theater show in quite some time. I also haven’t been to a live theater show in a while that made me laugh out loud. Yellow/Blue somehow succeeded on both accounts, numerous times. Jeannette is clearly a great writer with tons of talent. It’s quite difficult to balance sadness/happiness these days but she has a natural gift in doing so. The actors were also stellar. Jeannette gave them the space to make this story their own and the actors soared to tremendous heights as a result of that direction.
