What I liked

My own heart is melting at this ode to a culture that loves so deeply, yet somehow became hardened to that very love that is just beneath the surface. This show helps me see my own family more clearly and reinforces for me the need for big-hearted Artists to continue staring unflinchingly until the walls come tumbling down.
Brava, Katierose!

What I didn't like

For a next level refinement, I’d love to figure out how to have scenes change/sets change without you having to clear it yourself… maybe a full blackout to indicate the scene end? I found myself just a little pulled out of the moment while you were clearing the set for the next scene. I wanted someone to run on and do it for you, so you could hold that moment a bit longer. But maybe that’s a clue. When you played the acting into the change, that really helped…like when you were angrily putting on the hospital gown. It’s the groceries…I remember wanting someone to come on and help you with them during the scene change. How could you play that more into the transition? Your character must also want someone to help her, even though she pushes away the help. (and seriously, This is really just for next step refinement. Queen of Fishtown is Amazing!!!!)

My overall impression

Queen of Fishtown knocked my socks off!!!
Katierose knows her audience and has us in the palm of her hands from the start. She relentlessly draws our laughter out until our guards are down, and then stares unflinchingly at us with all the fury and rage and futility pent up from a lifetime of mocking her own big hearted love. As she opens her own heart, so too do we.
She’s created an uncensored, caricatured amalgamation of a sub-culture that is oh so very real.
