What I liked

Thought-provoking: Tackles difficult issues and forces audience to ask themselves tough questions.
Some interesting staging/physicality in opening (intro) scene, almost like dance
Good chemistry among actors
Scene between Gold Ol Boy Senator and Ambitious Young Man was especially strong.
Regarding the Chan Family scene: I appreciated that the writing included the harsh reality that even other women—and, further, women who have also been sexually assaulted/abused—will not support other women victims. It was unsettling to watch, certainly unpleasant, but I applaud the writer for illuminating this horrid truth.

What I didn't like

I found the intro unnecessary and lengthy. Although it was well-performed and well-staged, it felt more like attending a class on a (historical) play rather than actually watching a (current) play.

It was a bit distracting that the 1st scene (performed with lots of energy) was peppered with Spanish words when it didn’t sound like the actors were actually native Spanish speakers. So, it felt unnatural. It is totally fine and REAL that they are not native speakers. Many American Latinos are not. So, I think it’s better—and, even, important—to show this spectrum of American Latinos rather than make every Latino fit into a certain trope. Not every Mexican or other Latino in the US speaks Spanish or is a native speaker. That said, it was a good job by the actors.

My overall impression

Interesting, relevant content.
Well-directed
Well-written
Though-provoking
Worth seeing
